No advance notice. No confirmed date. On August 4, 2026, Ontario quietly updated its page and opened the Expression of Interest (EOI) portal for the new Ontario Workforce Priority Stream.

This redesign shifts the program into a single employer driven pathway, covering job offers across almost all occupations.

What actually matters

The candidate cannot move first. The employer must register, create a job offer, and submit it for approval. Only then does the candidate receive a job offer ID and be able to register their EOI profile. Once enter the EOI pool, it can sit for up to 12 months. Eligibility alone is no longer enough. A committed employer is now central.

Employers can use authorized representatives, but control stays with them. A draft job offer must be created by a signing officer or employer contact. Only the signing officer can sign the consent.

Candidates can also appoint representatives, but must still create their own OINP profile with a personal email and phone number. The representative must already be registered with OINP.

Two details often missed. The Applicant Consent Form is mandatory. If you used WES for your ECA, you must authorize WES to share it directly with OINP.

This is a system with multiple moving parts. That is exactly where experienced representation matters.

Early rounds tend to reward those who are ready. We do not yet know the draw frequency or cut off trends, and Ontario may run targeted selections instead of ranking purely by score. Once a job offer is submitted, the window to register an EOI is limited.
